Am I eligible to participate?
Yes, if you have completed requirements for an Education, an Education-related degree or certification or will do so by August 2012.
How do I get to the Greater Philadelphia Teacher Job Fair?
It will be held on the campus of West Chester University, in West Chester, PA. , 23 miles southwest of Philadelphia. Click here for directions. There is ample free parking at WCU.
What time does the Teacher Job Fair begin?
The Teacher Job Fair will begin at 9:00 a.m. for all pre-registered candidates from DVEC participating colleges/universities. On-site registrants will not be admitted until 10:00 a.m. The job fair ends at 3:30 PM.
What will happen at the Teacher Job Fair?
School district representatives will be there to speak with you about their anticipated needs and your interests and qualifications. Representatives will be located at tables in a large exhibition hall. You will be able to speak with them briefly on a first come - first served basis. After these initial conversations, some employers will schedule individual interviews. Other representatives will only be collecting resumes and noting first impressions for their use in selecting candidates for interviewing at a later date. Be prepared for long lines at the tables of Philadelphia suburban school districts. We encourage you to branch out in your search.
Professionalism
We suggest that you dress as you would for an interview. It may be that your only contact with a particular employer at Teacher Job Fair 2012 will be limited to a short discussion at a table, or an unscheduled chance meeting some other time during the day. Remember that your discussions should be equally as professional as they would be during a fully scheduled employment interview.
How do I find out where employers are located?
The final registration packet you will receive the day of the event will contain an employer list indicating which employers pre-registered to be in attendance, and a map showing their scheduled locations. Last-minute changes in employer attendance and locations will be posted in the registration area of the Teacher Job Fair.
Will there be a break for lunch and will food be available?
Recruiters will take a break for lunch, though they’ve been asked to try to keep 1 recruiter at their table at all times. Students can purchase food from nearby Lawrence Hall or outside food carts.
What if I did not pre-register? Will I be turned away?
No one is turned away from registering on-site. You must though submit $10 (cash only) and 1 copy of your resume. Bring plenty of other resumes for the recruiters.
